The Yellow-headed amazon is holding a tidbit to its impeccably mannered friend. The Dane carries the ostentatious collar off with understated majesty. A mild disdain in its kind eye. The dog’s gentleness and nobility dominate the picture. It’s a painting that grows on you; it spoke to me sotto voce, in Italian. Maybe it’s the atmosphere, the golden yellow of the screen, or the Renaissanse sgabello chair. Whatever it is, you’d want to enjoy looking at this under natural light, in a room with large patio doors, opening to a grand seaside balcony, with a sip of a fine limoncello. The Mediterranean beckons. To get there along the winding coastline route, in a red Giuletta Spider, you’d need sunglasses, a wide-brimmed summer hat, driving gloves a must. And for the soundtrack…Nino Rota ? Or some other delectable choice – like this ?
